Secrets of success in one form or another are the promises of every coach, guru or expert that can find a platform to broadcast from. It’s been a favorite since ancient times. From the Greek and Roman era till now the main change has been the transition from the spoken word to books and now the internet.

We have been interviewing interesting guests from a range of backgrounds; authors, marketing experts, coaches, consultants, and successful business owners. Our guests come from all over the world, as does our audience. The format is a 30-minute interview with video and audio versions published for every episode.
The show has been running for well over two years and this week, we recorded our 184th episode.
We have a question for guests who have achieved a high level of success in their chosen fields. “In your experience, is there one characteristic, habit, mindset or skill that sets successful people apart from those who remain average?” The exact wording may vary depending on the guest’s profession or industry.
Secrets of Success According To Our Guests
That question has been answered around 80 times now. All the answers fall into a narrow band of characteristics or personality traits. None mention education, technical expertise or qualifications.
All mention “soft” skills. The most common: curiosity, asking questions, adaptability, constant learning empathy, determination, resilience and perseverance.
Many guests attributed their own secrets of success to overcoming adversity. Some from a less than ideal family background or childhood. Others from having to recover from early failures.
Our guests found that personal development and improving people skills had a greater impact on success than technical or industry-specific skills.
