Face the fear was what we did twice in July and again this week when we recorded our first multi-guest episodes of The Yakking Show. Here are the links to the video versions of the first and second episodes. The third will be published on the 8th of August. If you prefer to listen to the audio, click the “audio episodes” button on the front page of the website or search for The Yakking Show on your favourite podcast platform.
Co-host Kathleen and I are members of the RISE community on Discord. It is a community of some of the most brilliant marketing minds in the world. It was started and is nurtured by world-renowned marketing expert Mark Schaefer. We are fortunate to have been invited to join.
Mark is a prolific author with a number of best-selling marketing books to his name. He proposed that the members of the community collaborate on a marketing book. 35 of them did, very successfully.
Although we have been in contact with many of the authors for some time and have already had some of them as guests on the show, it was a step into the unknown to arrange, record and produce three episodes with four experts in each. It was great fun and we are grateful to our guests for making each episode a success.
The Most Amazing Marketing Book Ever
Is the title of the book. It is available from Amazon in paperback. Kindle and audio versions.
The 34 Chapters of the book are divided into five sections for easy reading. Each author provides ten tips or action steps to help you in your marketing. It is an excellent book, packed full of actionable tips and ideas.
Facing The Fear on Sidney Harbour Bridge.
Julie Jones was our guest on The Yakking Show in this episode published on the 25th of July. Julie is an inspirational speaker who really does face the fear. She walked over the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia. I have done a few scary things in my life, but nothing like that. I had difficulty walking across the glass floor of the CN tower in Toronto. Yes, it’s 550m (1800 ft) up but the glass floor is in an enclosed space out of the wind. The notices on the walls that the floor is strong enough to hold a herd of hippos reassured my family but I was still nervous.
Adversity And Resilience
On The Yakking Show, we ask all our successful guests a variation of this question. “In your experience, is there one characteristic, mindset or habit that differentiates successful people from those who remain average?” We are generally asking about business leaders, but it could be about people who are successful in other areas of life. The answers are all from a small number of values or characteristics. Curiosity, growth mindset, constant learning, perseverance, resilience and the ability to get back up and keep going after failure are the most common. No one has said to get an MBA or go to the right college or university.
We notice from interviewing hundreds of successful people that the ability to overcome adversity, be resilient in the face of challenges and to keep learning are some of the most important keys to a successful life – however one may define success.
We also notice that the current “woke” climate aims to prevent people from thinking for themselves and being resilient. Overblown political correctness is destroying initiative. It is stifling free speech and the opportunity for people with different opinions to engage in debate.
I am appalled at the number of men who seem to have lost their masculine virtues of courage, valor, duty, doing what’s right, men who have given up. Men who should be fighting for the safety of children, protecting them against the sexual perversion they are being exposed to in schools. Taking action against the insane encouragement of boys to submit to castration and girls to mastectomies and genital mutilation.
Honourable men should be protecting women’s rights to safe washrooms and fair competition in women-only sport.
Where have the honourable men gone? Where have the strident feminists from the previous century gone? All cowed by the rabid minority promoting the woke agenda.
For the future of the human race, it’s time men and women stood up for what’s normal, right and common sense.
Face The Fear – Stand Up
If you are unhappy about the way society is sliding down the slippery slope to extinction, it’s time you did something about it. Face the fear, just say no.
I agree entirely….we have to stand up & say ‘NO’ it’s not acceptable behaviour & I don’t have to accept these things as the new norm….down with Woke.
Thanks for your comment Geri, apologies for the late acknowledgement.
