Content Creation – 2 New Tools, Podcasts & Discord

Content creation is always on the mind of marketers and small business owners who do not have the luxury of a marketing department or the resources to hire marketing agencies.

This week, I found two new tools that could make content creation easier and quicker. Both use Artificial Intelligence (AI). One generates graphics, and the other text content.

The first is DALL-E2 that creates images from written instructions in the form of short prompts. I used “A black and white paint horse with brown western saddle and 70-year-old male rider” to create the 4 photos below. For comparison, the large photo is me on Magic Penny a few (14 actually) years ago.

They are not perfect. There are a number of inconsistencies – obvious to a horseman or woman – but perhaps not to a casual observer. The reins are either missing or incorrectly placed. There are neither stirrups nor bits and the tops of the rider’s heads or in two of them, their whole heads are missing. Could be useful for producers of horror movies about headless horsemen.

However, this was my first attempt with a fairly loosely defined set of prompts. I expect that with a few more attempts, I could get a photo that would appear original to most blog or email readers.

I am in two minds about this tool for content creation:

• On the plus side it would be a huge timesaver when finding images for blog posts, websites and articles.
• On the minus side, I fear that it could easily be used for malevolent purposes. Providing false evidence of crime, infidelity, product failure and more.
• It could be used to produce art forgeries and as a tool for scam artists who use technology to prey on unsuspecting people – especially the elderly.

Text Content Creation

Jasper is an application for text content creation. I have not tried it yet, just watched the demo video. I have, however, spoken to someone who uses it for generating filler content and he is impressed with it.

Type in a topic, the type of content i.e. email subject line, blog post, the tone to be used and Jasper will churn out your content.

My Latest Podcast Appearance

I was on another fakeologist livestream interview on Wednesday 12 October 2022. Tim is a very well-researched interviewer who has been uncovering fakery in many fields for decades. He got me wondering about things I had never questioned before. I was able to explain some of the events in Africa – particularly Rhodesa/Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zaire (DRC) and Rwanda from the perspective of someone who lived and traveled there during the crises. Crises that flared up with distressing frequency and continue today.

The fakeologist show features many interesting guests from diverse backgrounds. You might agree with some and strongly disagree with others. With the amount of false and misleading information being published in the traditional media at the moment, this show is a very useful resource for hearing alternate views. Is everything said on the show the truth? That you must decide for yourself after considering all the evidence.

Discord

When I first looked at Discord a couple of years ago, I thought it was for millenials, nerds and geeks. It may be, but it is also a great platform for communities to share ideas and communicate in more privacy and with less clutter than the more widely used social media networks.
