As it mentions, it is quite acceptable to write informally, that is the way we talk. But it is not good to break the basic rules of correct word usage, use of apostrophes and use of similarly pronounced but differently spelt words with quite different meanings.
With all the shortcuts used in texting, it is easy to take the same shortcuts when writing longer copy for content on social media sites and blogs.
Not only does bad grammar make writing look unprofessional, it can alter the meaning of the message we are trying to get across.

Hope that helps clear up any confusion that many people experience. The one that used to get me was the difference between “less” and “fewer” the tip that if you can count it then use fewer, is a big help. Complement & compliment, principle & principal also need careful thought.
